Ekibeki was born off the frustration of not finding enough quality products for our own homes. We felt that there had to be a choice beyond the traditional decorative items, tacky design copies and the expensive foreign products available in the market today. We have a business model that allows us to fill this gap between demand and supply in the market. Here is how we are doing it…
Get the best design talent
Our "Nibandhan" program gives us access to some of the country’s leading product designers in the field of home decor, each with the experiences of working with varied materials and a track record of design innovation.
We also believe that creativity is not restricted to pedigree, and therefore, through our "OpenSource" initiative reach out for product and design ideas to anyone with a creative bent of mind, including budding designers from top design schools. This process ensures we continuously come out with products that are interesting, contemporary and unique.
Create products that are contemporary, chic, and unique
To qualify as a potential ekibeki product, each design has to fit within the stringent parameters for creativity and innovation set by our in-house design team. These parameters are based on our philosophy, extensive market research and study of world trends.
Tap India’s rapidly shrinking, but very varied, artisan base
India employs more than 50,000 artisans in the Arts & Crafts sector. We have established tie-ups with groups of artisans and have artisans working for us on a dedicated basis. That is why you will find an “Indian touch” in our products; however, we are paranoid about not designing overwhelmingly traditional products. The variety we offer in materials and art forms is unmatched and we intend to keep adding to it every day.
Innovate on design, materials and production
Our designers work to create products that are contemporary, but use the skills and materials of the artisans that we have been able to tap so far. We encourage them to mix different materials so as to create products that not only look different, but feel different too. Before commercializing a design we use our design labs to determine the best production methods, thus, ensuring that we create a high quality product at the lowest possible cost so that we can keep the prices reasonable for our customers.
Make these products accessible to our customers
We bring these products to our customers by partnering through a network of retailers, distributors, and online e-commerce platforms. We are continuously in search of new partners to find more ways to reach our end-customers.
Transfer skills & production techniques to artisans
We help the artisans upgrade their skills, offer them a consistent means of earning their livelihood and provide them an opportunity to use these skills to further their products with other buyers. Over a period of time we intend to develop cluster of artisans skillful in working with multiple materials, using new production methods and, where required, with some technological intervention.
